This Wampum Belt 5 Row Clay features square and checkered designs. The crafter used reproduction clay wampum beads in white and purple to create the belt. He wrapped the outside edges with red twine. Then he created yarn tabs for each end. At one end, he attached 1 inch Bone Hairpipe and at the other blue Crow Beads. Braided yarn serves as ties. You will see that a couple of purple Wampum Beads have broken and are missing (last photo). The crafter wrapped one open space with red twine.
This Wampum Belt 5 Row Clay measures 33 inches long x 2.25 inches wide. The beaded section measures about 31 inches long. The ties measure about 14 inches on one side and 9 inches on the other. Because of the fragility of the clay beads, we recommend purchasing this belt for display only. One of a Kind!
Native Americans who lived on the Northeast Coast created distinctive beads from the shells of the Quahog clam and Whelk snails. They called these purple and white beads wampum. Crafters strung early disc shaped wampum beads in simple strands. When tube shaped wampum beads made from shell and glass were available, they strung them together with a loom and made them into belts. Crafters created patterns by using one color bead as the background and the other for contrast. They used some of these belts to convey messages of war or peace. Wampum belts became symbols of status. Wampum Belts were used as straps for bags or worn as sashes.
A crafter created this Pincushion Whimsy with Berry Drops using Clear Seed Beads and Clear Basket Beads. It is a classic example of the Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
This Pin Cushion features a botanical design. It comes with three beaded “berry” drops. Unlike the strawberries that held sand for sharpening your sewing needles, stuffing fills these berries. One of them has broken open. Strands of clear beads connect the three berries.
Polished cotton in a rich teal color makes up the back. You will see obvious wear on the edges. Some beads are missing from the pin cushion itself. The bead loss on the berries is obvious. Only two beaded tassels that hung from the berries remain.
This Beaded Berry Drop Pincushion Whimsy will make an unusual addition to your antique or whimsy collection!
It measures 3.5″ square. The overall length measures 5.25″ long.
A crafter beaded this Scalloped Edge Pin Cushion Whimsy using Clear and colored Pony Beads. You will also see some gray-looking Basket Beads. The crafter also added Beaded Looped Tassels with Clear Pony Beads on each corner of the Pin Cushion.
It is a classic example of the Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
This Pin Cushion features a floral/botanical design. The crafter beaded the design on what may have been a tan or yellow velveteen fabric which has mostly worn away. Polished cotton in teal blue surrounded by red bias tape edging makes up the back. You will see holes in the back fabric and sawdust is coming out.
The Beadwork on this Pin Cushion is beautiful, but the piece has not aged well. In addition to the holes in the back fabric, the front shows significant tears. Much of the velveteen has worn away. Most of the beadwork seems to be intact, but you will see that some of the edge tassels have come loose. Some of the edge beads have fallen off as well. You will find several pins remain in this Whimsy, signs that a previous owner used it for a Pin Cushion.
It measures about 7″ x 8″ not including the side tassels. The thickness is about 3″.
A crafter created this Beaded Wall Pocket Whimsy around 1900. It is a classic example of a Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenir. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
This whimsy comes in the shape of a wall pocket. The artist chose Clear Seed Beads for most of the 3 dimensional design. He or she also used Transparent Amber Seed Beads and Silver lined Basket Beads. The bottom and side feature loops of Clear and Silver lined Basket Beads. The design features Floral motifs on the top and a Bird on a branch on the pocket.
Polished cotton in a reddish color covers the front and a neutral colored fabric covers the back and the inside of the pocket.
This Whimsy came from a previous owner, but it remains in good condition. You will see some bead loss and places where the fabric has torn or worn away. Additionally, you will see staining and discoloration on the fabric on the back and inside the pocket.
This Beaded Whimsy will make an unusual addition to your antique or whimsy collection!
It measures approx 8″ tall x 6″ wide not including the Basket Bead loops. The pocket extends about 4″ from the back of the Whimsy.
This Floral Whimsy Matchstick Holder was made using Transparent Yellow, Red, Light Purple, Gray, and Clear Pony Beads. You will also find green and brown basket beads along with brass sequins in the design. The crafter beaded two flowers on the two front pockets. The top and bottom are beaded along with beading along the edges. The crafter added Beaded Looped Tassels made with pony and basket beads. The whimsey has a beaded loop on the top to hang it up. The gold polished cotton fabric is in good condition.
This Floral Matchstick Holder Whimsy measures about 5.5 inches at the widest section and 7 inches tall not including the 1″ tassels. Each pocket is 2″ x .75″ at the opening.
This is a classic example of Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.

We offer NYMO Thread in 4 weights. OO and O are the finest weight threads, while D is heavier and F is the heaviest.
Use OO or O for delicate jewelry making with small beads (12/0 or 13/0).
For general beadwork, B is used with 12/0 or 13/0 beads,
Use D or F for 11/0 or 10/0 beads.

Navajo Natives create our Classic Dream Catchers. They make them with natural feathers, imitation sinew, glass beads, metal beads and tin cones. Each Dream Catcher comes with a card explaining the Dream Catcher legend. The larger Dream Catchers include the artist’s name and tribal affiliation.
The Woodlands Indians say: Hang a Dream Catcher by the window or at the head of your bed. The bad dreams get caught in the web. The good dreams work their way through the hole in the center, rest on the feather like a dew drop, and evaporate to the Great Spirit in the morning sun. The prayer beads on the Dream Catcher trap all the bad dreams that are left on the web. The prayer beads then burn them up.
These Dream Catchers come in three sizes:

Antique Braintanned Leather Bag with Quillwork and Beadwork
This collectible Quilled Antique Bag is a fantastic find! The crafter used Braintanned Deerskin Leather to make the bag. He or she covered the bottom of the bag with Porcupine Quillwork in Red, Green and Orange quills. Then the crafter attached 11 strips covered with more quills in Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. The crafter attached these strips together at the bottom with a single Dark Blue Seed Bead between each one.
Along the sides of the bag, the crafter added Lazy Stitch beadwork in Turquoise, Dark Blue and White Center Red Seed Beads. More Dark Blue Seed Beads appear along one edge of the Quillwork. At the top of the bag, you will see edge beading in White Center Red and Turquoise Seed Beads along with the remains of mostly missing quillwork. At the very bottom you will see the remains of Braintanned Deerskin Leather Lacing fringe or drops.
Native Americans use Quillwork to adorn a wide range of items, including moccasins, leggings, and dresses, as well as personal accessories like bags, pouches, and jewelry. Historically, quillwork was primarily practiced by women, who gathered the quills and prepare them for use. They cleaned, softened, and dyed the quills using natural materials such as berries or roots. This Quilled Antique Bag itself measures 5″ x 2″. The quilled strips are 1.75″ long and the remaining fringe is about 3″ long. Overall the bag measures about 7″ long.
This Bag is very fragile due to its age. You will see some quills and beads are missing, as well as most of the bottom fringe. We are selling it in a Ryker mount to help protect it. One of a Kind!
Add this fabulous Antique Apache Style Beaded Bag to your collection! Note the unusual top closure. A beaded cover slides down the Deerskin Leather Lacing handle to close the Bag. The crafter used Pony Trader Blue, Alabaster, Cobalt Blue and White Center Red 12/0 Seed Beads to create the geometric design. He also added edge beading in Pony Trader Blue and Alabaster to the sides of the bag and the bottom edge of the cover.
On the bottom you will see 0.5″ antique hand rolled Tin Cones hanging from Deerskin Leather Lacing fringe.
This Antique Beaded Bag is in remarkable condition for its age (late 1800s). Any bead loss looks like it is due to the old Beads breaking, rather than coming undone. Some of the longer fringe pieces have detached from the bag. This Bag is intact.
This Bag measures 4.5″ long (not including the fringe) x 3.5″ wide at the widest point.

Add these antique Moccasins Child’s Iroquois Style to your collection. The crafter made these moccasins with tobacco colored Deerskin Leather. He or she added black fabric cuffs with a red ribbon to the top. Then the crafter created the classic Iroquois raised beadwork botanical design to the vamps. He or she used Clear, Transparent Green, Transparent Amber and Transparent Red Seed Beads to create the design. A couple of Brass Sequins accentuate it. Rows of White Seed Beads edge the vamp. The crafter also added two rows of White Seed Beads to the edge of the fabric cuff. Beige colored fabric lines the inside of the back part of the moccasins.
We got these Moccasins Child’s Iroquois Style from a collection. They do not show much wear, but you will see tears in the fabric of the cuffs and the inner lining. The beadwork remains intact. We are selling these as collectible only. One of a Kind!
This style of moccasins were made by using one piece of Deerskin leather for the bottom and then adding the vamp and cuff. Later as the bottom became worn, the vamp and cuff could be removed and attached to a new piece of leather.
These moccasins measure about 5.5 inches long x 2.5 inches wide at the middle with a smaller pointed toe. One of a kind!
A crafter created this Heart Pin Cushion Whimsy using Clear Seed Beads and Gray Basket Beads. Three tassels made of seed and basket beads hang from the bottom. It is a classic example of the Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
This Whimsy comes in the shape of a heart. The front shows a dark blue fabric. Crafters often create Whimsies with velveteen, but we can see no nap left on this fabric to suggest it was velveteen. Polished cotton in a tan color makes up the back. You will see some staining on the back and edges, and minimal bead loss.

The Glengarry hat is a traditional Scottish cap that Scottish military regiments wore. The name comes from the Glengarry region in Scotland. Traders imported hats like these for exchange with Native Americans during the 19th century. Iroquois and Wabanaki crafters decorated them with Beadwork and Ribbons to make colorful accessories.
