Antique Northern Plains Boy’s Shirt
Add this fabulous Antique Northern Plains style Boy’s Shirt to your collection today! This piece combines a functional clothing item with beautiful beadwork. The Shirt is a poncho-type top with small sleeves attached to it. The crafter made it with Braintanned Deerskin Leather and sewed it with Real Deerskin Sinew.
The beadwork features classic old colors like Greasy Yellow, White Center Red, Arapaho Green, Cobalt Blue and White. The crafter attached 2″ long Braintanned Deerskin Leather Fringe to the bottom (front and back) and to the ends of the sleeves. Additional Braintanned Deerskin Lacing on the sides and under the arms allow the wearer to tie the sides and arms closed.
The V-neck front ends in a 2″ long opening in the front seam of the Shirt.
You will see that the Fringe on the back of the right sleeve has come off. You will also see a couple of places on the same sleeve where the Beadwork has come off. The inside shows patches at small holes in the Leather. The Shirt measures 13″ long from top to bottom. The measurement from the end of one sleeve to the other is 18″.
We believe this Shirt comes from the late 19th century. It will make a distinctive addition to your Beadwork or Antique collection! It is too fragile to be worn. We are selling it with the display stand.
