This fully quilled birchbark box features an elegant flower design on the lid.  The artist made this container with natural Birchbark.  They used natural, green, yellow, blue and red dyed porcupine quills to create the designs. The artist created a geometric quillwork band around the base and added sweetgrass bands to both the lid and the lower rim. This vintage container remains in good condition and carries the signature CE Kruse.   You will see crayon markings on the inside of the box.  This container stands 3 inches tall with the lid in place and measures 5 inches in diameter.

Birchbark containers have long served as essential storage vessels for Indigenous communities across North America, valued for their durability and natural insulation. Makers flatten and dye porcupine quills before applying them to the surface of the box, creating intricate decorative patterns that highlight both skill and cultural knowledge.
