Basket- Birchbark Etched Design

This fabulous birchbark basket with lid features hand‑etched animal designs. The artist used spruce root to stitch the container together and constructed the lid from two layers of birchbark. The cover is sturdy and lifts completely off the container. The maker reinforced the seams with additional spruce‑root stitching, and a spruce branch around the top adds stability to the form. This container stands approx. 8.5 inches tall and measures 10 inches long by 7 inches wide. It remains in very good condition.
