Stamped Brass Gorget with Brass Spots

This  Gorget Brass Stamped features stamped designs with Brass Spots.  The crafter used a hammered Brass Gorget.  He attached a length of 0.5 inch wide red and gold metallic ribbon for a tie.  In addition to the three stramped designs on the front, this piece has a stamped scalloped edge.  Instead of drilled holes for the hanging cord, the crafter soldered to metal loops to the back.  He soldered the backs of the spots as well.    You will find it an ideal addition to your Native American Regalia.

Metal Gorgets were originally worn by European military officers in the 18th century. In North America, Europeans gave gorgets to Native American leaders as trade goods. Over time, Metal Gorgets became prized trade items and part of Native American Regalia in the Eastern United States. This item is appropriate for French and Indian War period regalia.

This Gorget Brass Stamped came from a collection.  A previous owner wore it.  You will see signs of wear and smudges.  You can polish the smudges off.  The piece measures about 5 inches across and 2.25 inches wide at the widest point.    The ribbon attached to it is about 11.5 inches long.  You will find it lightweight to wear.  One of a Kind!
