One of a Kind

Historically, the tomahawk were crafted  with stone heads bound to wooden handles using rawhide strips. These tools served multiple roles:

  • Utility: Used for chopping, hunting, and daily tasks
  • Ceremonial: Decorated with carvings, quillwork, or feathers for gifting or diplomacy
  • Symbolic: Often represented strength, protection, or tribal identity

Later, European trade introduced metal-headed tomahawks, including pipe tomahawks—dual-purpose items combining a smoking pipe with a weapon, often exchanged during treaties.
