Braintanned Beaded High Top Women’s Moccasins

The crafter made these Moccasins High Top Women’s with soft White Braintanned Deerskin Leather.  The crafter used White, Black , Greasy Yellow and Red Seed beads to create lazy stitch designs on the vamps, shafts and heels.  The moccasins come with Rawhide soles.

Native Americans of the Southern Plains regions create women’s moccasins with a high-top design, which extends above the ankle, sometimes up to the mid-calf. This design provides additional warmth and protection. Traditionally this was useful for both colder weather and horseback riding, where the ankle and lower leg were vulnerable to the elements.

These Moccasins measure about 10 inches long x 3.75 inches at the widest point.  They stand about 16 inches tall with the top flap turned down.  A previous owner wore these Moccasins as a Women’s size 9.   You will see signs of wear on them, especially on the bottom.  There are a few places where the beads are loose, but no apparent bead loss.  These Moccasins High Top Women’s are in wearable condition.  One of a Kind!
