Scalp Feathers with Gold Rosette

This Scalp Feather – Gold Rosette features a 1.5 inch rosette made with gold, silver and black 10/0 seed beads. The maker started with two hand‑painted eagle feathers.  He added tiny yellow feather tips to the bottom and small yellow dots to create vivid highlights.  He wrapped the lower quills with leather and wrapped them with red and gold thread. Behind the rosette, the crafter layered yellow, red, and burgundy ribbon for added color.

He attached two tassels to hang from the rosette.  One is chain of crystals with a gold‑colored metal tassel at the end and the other is twisted leather tassel finished with a cowrie shell. The piece measures approximately 16.5 inches long .  The tassels measure approximately 8.5 inches long.
