Pottery Large Antique Acoma Jar

This one of a kind Acoma Jar will become the centerpiece of your collection!  It comes from the early 20th century and features big and bold floral and geometric designs.  The potter covered it with White slip then added the designs in Black & Red paint.  He or she painted the inside of the rim with Red paint as well.

Traditional Acoma pottery comes from the Pueblo in New Mexico. The pottery usually features very thin walls, a desirable characteristic. Most artists create their pottery using hand coiled techniques. They often use Black, White and Red slip colors.

A previous owner had this jar in a collection. You will see some wear and chipped spots on it and some wear on the bottom. Structurally, this piece remains in excellent condition.  There is no signature on the bottom.

This Acoma Jar stands just about 9.5″ tall.  It measures about 11" in diameter at its widest point. The top opening measures 7" in diameter.

One of a Kind!
