Canoe Model Birchbark

SOLD This fabulous antique Canoe Model Birchbark will make a unique addition to your collection! The artist created this from natural Birch Bark. They painstakingly embroidered images of people, plants and animals on the sides using colored Moosehair.  You will see that each individual is holding something in their right hand and a pipe in their left hand.  Each wears a scarf or other covering on their head and and stands among trees and other plants.  On one side you will also see a bird.  The colors have faded but you can still see the blues, greens, oranges, browns and whites.
The artist made this a double walled canoe so the inside stitching is protected.  The canoe itself is fragile.  The edge stitching has come away in most places.  One end and the bottom are cracked and partially broken.  This pieces measures about 11.5 inches long and 2.25 inches wide at the widest point.  It is about 2.5 inches high.  It will not stand on its own.
This Canoe Model Birchbark is a fine example of hair embroidery.  It will make an outstanding addition to a Native American craft collection.   One of a Kind!
