Antique Beaded Iroquois Moccasins
Antique Beaded Iroquois MoccasinsFor the collector! Beautiful beadwork on these antique moccasins makes them a collector's delight!
The artisan made these Iroquois moccasins around 1900. He or she used gold Deerskin Leather and added brown Velveteen cuffs and vamps. The crafter then beaded a classic floral design on the vamps with 8/0 Pony Beads in complementary colors. White Center Red pairs with Cheyenne Pink, White pairs with Clear, Crow Pale Blue pairs with Pony Trader Blue, and Greasy Yellow pairs with Clear Amber. Clear Green adds the stem to the floral design. Two rows of White Seed Beads surround the floral design and a row of White Pony Beads provide an outside edge.
The cuffs feature pastel colored Seed Beads in Yellow, Pink and Pale Blue. The crafter edged the cuffs with red fabric. He or she also lined the moccasins with cotton fabric. You will see a name inked on the inside that we cannot read. There are collection stickers on the bottom of each moccasin.
These moccasins have been around. A previous owner wore them. You will see some bead loss and some loose beads. One tie lace is missing. We offer them for display only.
The moccasins measure about 9" long x 3" wide. They stand 2.5" tall at the cuff.
