Vintage Handcrafted Horn Rattle

Make this Vintage handcrafted Horn Rattle a standout piece in your collection, display, or cultural gathering.  This traditional Native American instrument reflects artisan skill and careful craftsmanship. The artisan painted the top and the area just above the handle with red paint, creating a striking accent. A loop of deerskin leather lacing secures the end of the rattle, providing both a grip and traditional style. Additionally, you can replace the leather lace with your own ties, allowing dancers, singers, and collectors to personalize the instrument.

This Horn Rattle measures approximately 9.5″ long. The horn portion measures approximately 4″ long by 2.5″ wide. With its traditional design and handcrafted details, this rattle makes a distinctive addition to any collection, display, or cultural gathering.

One of a Kind.

Horn Rattles hold an important place in Native American music and dance, often used to keep rhythm during ceremonies, social dances, and songs. They may accompany the Water Drum in certain Northeastern traditions. Players can strike the rattle against the palm or shake it to produce a clear, resonant sound. Historically, Northeastern Native artisans used bark, gourd, and turtle shell for rattles; cow horn became available only after European contact.
