A crafter created this Whimsy Picture Frame Large with a raised beaded Botanical Design. This antique frame has a unique shape. The artist chose Clear, light blue, transparent green and pink Pony Beads for most of the raised floral design. Gold velvet covers the front. Someone added new pellon fabric to the back which blocks the opening for the picture pocket. You could remove the pellon to get to the pocket slot or insert your picture from the front.
This frame is a classic example of a Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenir. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade. This Whimsy came from a previous owner. You will find it in good condition. You will see some bead loss and places where the fabric has torn or worn away. This Whimsy Picture Frame Large will make an unusual addition to your antique or whimsy collection! It measures approx. 12.5″ tall x 8.75″ wide at the widest point. The picture opening measures about 6″ long. One of a kind!
