Don’t miss this very unique Clay Beaver figurine by Sara Ayers. This would make a great addition to your figurine collection or a special gift for that collector in the family. Measurements are 7″ long x approx. 2″ wide, The potter etched on the tail to look like a real beavers tail. There are a couple small chips on the tail, the bottom is signed by Sara Ayers, along with Catawba ( rainbows over the River), from Dovecrest Trading Post Exeter RI.

Sara Ayers was a highly skilled Catawba potter known for her beautiful and intricate pottery, which often featured animal figures, including beavers. Catawba pottery is entirely hand-built using traditional coiling technique. The pottery is made from locally sourced clay, often mixed with finely ground shards of old pottery. The surface of the pottery is often scraped smooth with a piece of bone, antler, or a knife, and then burnished to a shine with a smooth river stone. Catawba pottery is not just functional; it is a beautiful expression of the heritage and craftsmanship.
