Basket- Antique Potato Stamped

This Basket- Antique Potato Stamped makes a beautiful addition to any basket collection. The weaver added hand‑stamped designs in several areas, along with a few additional decorative elements that give the piece extra charm. The maker crafted both the basket and its lid from natural ash splints. Then carved simple shapes into a cut potato, dipped them in pigment, and pressed them onto the ash splints to create the distinctive stamped patterns. Crafted in the early 1900s, the basket is well used, with broken splints on both the cover and the basket itself. The stamping is outstanding for its age, showing crisp, well‑defined impressions that immediately draw the eye. The basket carries strong character and displays beautifully, even with its age‑appropriate wear. It remains a solid, desirable display piece that adds authenticity, charm, and collector value to any setting. The basket stands 11 inches high with the lid on and offers a generous footprint at 18 inches long by 15 inches wide, giving it strong presence for display.
