Necklace with Carved Bear Claws, Beadwork, Ribbon work Drop, and Otter Fur

This Necklace- Carved Bear Claw features 39 hand-carved bear claws (material unknown), wrapped with otter fur and strung with translucent cobalt blue glass beads between each claw. The maker accented the bottom of the necklace with two blue trade beads, and beadwork designs.

Attached to the necklace is a removable ribbon work drop trimmed with otter fur and beadwork along one edge. The artisan decorated the drop with two hand-stamped silver brooches, each measuring approximately 3 inches in diameter. At the top of the drop, the maker added a beaded panel measuring approximately 5 inches long by 2 inches wide.

The otter fur on the drop shows some dry rot; however, the drop can be removed, allowing the necklace to be worn separately. The drop measures approximately 47 inches long and 5.5 inches wide at the top.

The necklace opening measures approximately 16 inches long by 8 inches wide.
