Vintage Birch Cane with Carved Portrait and Leaf Motif

This vintage Cane- Indian Head & Leaves features a chip carved Indian Head design.   A crafter from Maine used the chip carving technique to create the Indian head and leaf designs which allows the motifs stand out against the natural birch color. They hand‑painted the portrait at the top of the cane and outlined the carved designs in black to enhance the contrast. The maker also left sections of natural birch bark at both the top and bottom, giving the piece a rustic character and highlighting the natural beauty of the birch wood.  This cane measures approximately 36 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide.
