Tail Stick- Umbrella Handle

Use this 24.5″ Dance Tail Stick – Umbrella Handle  at your next Powwow or display it in your home! The crafter started with a bamboo umbrella handle to which he added one section of beadwork.  To create the beaded section, he used 13/0 cut seed beads in Cheyenne Pink, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue, White and Metallic Silver. The beaded section measures approximately 2.25″ long. The crafter added a silver metal thimble to one end.  For the handle he fitted the piece with a cobalt blue umbrella handle decorated with an overlay of silverwork. The finished Dance Stick measures 24.5 inches long overall. You will find it in like new condition.  It is ready to use or display!

Native American dancers use individually crafted and decorated sticks to enhance the energy of their dance. They design their Dance Sticks according to the type and purpose of their dance. Crafters and artists carve sticks from wood or use other natural materials.  They can add beadwork, horse or bison tail fur, drops, paint and other decorations to personalize each one. Collectors often display Dance Sticks in their homes.
