Gourd Dance Set Blue Sash

The blanket in this Gourd Dance Set Blue Sash is made from Wool Broadcloth.  The crafter made it by sewing pieces of Blue and Red Selvedge Edge Broadcloth together.  Then he added Blue and Green Ribbon trim to the sides.  He made the Sash with Blue velveteen.  On the ends he added 2 inch long Beaded Tubes decorated with White Seed Beads and Cut Seed Beads in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue.  Twelve inch long Ivory Fringe hangs from each end.

The dance in which this set can be worn is called the Gourd Dance.  The gourd dance is a Kiowa dance ceremony which honors all warriors and veterans.

A previous owner wore this set. You will see water drop marks on the red wool and some discoloration on one side of the fringe.  It is in good, wearable  condition.

This Blanket measures approximately 118 inches long and 14 inches wide.  The Sash measures 113 inches long not including the beaded tubes and the fringe.
