Gourd Dance Fan and Rattle Set

This Fan Rattle Set Gourd Dance has decorative embellishments that make it stand out.  The crafter made the rattle with a metal shaker and fitted it with a sturdy wood‑dowel handle.  He created two beaded sections featuring a feather motif.  His Peyote Stitch design uses 11/0 Cut Seed Beads in Turquoise, Navy Blue, Red, Wine, Orange, Orange Yellow, Yellow, White and Black.  The top beaded section measures 1.5″ long, while the handle section measures about 9″ long.  At the top, the crafter added bright yellow horsehair.   At the bottom he attached 7″ of Twisted White Leather Fringe.  He further embellished the fringe with cut Pheasant Feathers and a tiny cross pendant.    The rattle measures 17″  long overall not including the twisted fringe.

The accompanying loose‑feather fan features beautiful natural Pheasant feathers.  The crafter wrapped the base of each feather with White Deerskin Leather and a band of red thread.  Above the wrap he attached pale green and red hackles.  The handle features a matching beaded feather motif design in 11/0 Cut Seed Beads.  At the bottom, the crafter attached a White Deerskin Leather cuff with 7.5″ long Twisted White Leather Fringe.   It also has a small cross pendant attached.  The crafter added a drop  with a beaded cuff that echoes the designs on the rattle and fan handles. The handle unscrews from the fan for storage.  The fan measures about 18″ long not including the Twisted Fringe.  One of a Kind!
