Beaded Legging Strip

$425.00

Antique Beaded Legging Strip

This gorgeous Beaded Legging Strip was crafted on Braintanned Deer hide in the early 1900s. The crafter used real Deer Sinew to sew on white center red,  greasy yellow, and cobalt blue 10/0 seed beads in  an intricate Star and Tepee design.  The strip is long and narrow, and measures 2.5″ wide x 29″. There is only one. The Braintanned Leather is worn in places and you will see a few spots where the beads have been lost.

One of a Kind.

A legging strip is a decorative and functional element used in traditional Native American clothing, particularly among Plains groups. The strip is long and narrow, designed to be attached to leggings, which are worn over pants or directly on the legs for protection and decoration. They are a beautiful expression of artistry and tradition, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the groups that create them.
