Quilled Strike-a-lite bag

Add this fully quilled Bag- Strike-a-lite to your collection. The crafter used red and purple dyed porcupine quills—some naturally softened with age—to create a bold, traditional design. Crafted from Braintanned leather, the artist stitched the quillwork panel across the front.  They used brain‑tanned deerskin lacing to form the neck strap. Quilled strips with tin cone accents hang from the bottom. The crafter used lazy‑stitch to create the beadwork along the sides. The bag measures approximately 3 inches wide and 10 inches long, including the tin cones.

One of a Kind!

A strike-a-lite bag is a small, decorated pouch used by Native Americans of the Central and Southern Plains. It held fire-starting tools like flint, steel strikers, and tinder. Though practical, the bag often displayed tribal craftsmanship and symbolic designs. It offers insight into regional styles, materials, and daily life. For collectors, it blends utility with artistry.
