This Rosette Necklace features turtles in the colors of the Four Directions. Master Craftsman Andy Bullock created this beautiful Rosette Necklace with 13/0 cut Seed Beads. The Turquoise background sparkles behind the four Turtles. Andy added edge beading with White Seed Beads.The Rosette hangs from a triple strand of Red, White, Black and Yellow 13/0 cut beads interspersed with blue pony beads.
This Rosette measures 2.5" diameter on a 8" strand of beads. In addition, the Braintanned Deerskin Leather Lacing allows you to adjust the length.
Some East Coast Native American tribes tell the story of the Turtle holding the Earth on its back. Thus some Native American refer to their homeland as "Turtle Island." Turtles also symbolize longevity and fertility in some Native American cultures.
You will often find the colors of the Four Directions on Medicine Wheels. These colors represent the four compass directions and can also be associated with seasons, certain animals and plants.
