Rattle Hand Carved Bird

SOLD Don't miss out on this Rattle Hand Carved Bird.  The crafter created this contemporary Rattle by copying a rattle from the early 1800s.  He started by carving a bird shape at the top and scalloped ridges down one side of this hardwood piece. The crafter then attached several Deer dew claws with Deerskin leather Lacing to the top.
A rattle with dew claws is a traditional Native American instrument, often used in ceremonies and social gatherings. This rattle is ready for your next Pow Wow or to add to your collection. It measures 15" long overall. The bird measures 4" and the handle measures 11". It comes with  16 dew claws.  You could further add more dew claws or other items to the leather lacing to make it your own.  One of a Kind.
Native American Dancers often use Rattles to produce the rhythm for song and dance. Musicians can hit Rattles against the palm of their hand, or shake them. The sound produced by these rattles is distinct and can vary depending on the materials used and the way they are prepared. They are often used to accompany songs and dances, then adding a spiritual element to the performance.
