Basket Pieces Moosehair Embroidered

SOLD These antique Basket Pieces Moosehair Embroidered come ready to display in the included Riker mount case.  They include eight of the nine pieces of a Birchbark basket.  The crafter decorated this basket with scenes of people, plants and birds that they created using Moosehair embroidery.  The center scene shows three people in a canoe surrounded by a flower garland.  Three of the remaining pieces feature images of birds, and four show people surrounded by trees and plants.  A running flower garland appears at the top of each of the side pieces.
You will see significant loss of the moosehair.  The holes where it was inserted are visible on the pieces.  The colors haven't faded dramatically so you can still see the greens, orange, blue, brown, yellow and white.  One section of the basket is gone and a piece of another one broke off.  The edge stitching has come apart, but the remains of the basket have been thoughtfully preserved in a Riker mount case.
The Basket Pieces Moosehair Embroidered measure about 9.5 inches in diameter.  The included  glass Riker mount measures 16.25 inches x 12.25 inches x 0.75 inches.   Though  the pieces have separated, they still show the exemplary craftsmanship that was required to create this artwork.  One of a Kind!
