Seneca/Tuscarora Antique Beaded Bag

Antique Beaded Bag

This Antique Beaded Bag is of Seneca or Tuscarora origin and was made in the mid 19th century. This Beaded Bag features a hexagonal shape. The artisan used extremely small glass seed beads (18/0 and smaller) to create the detailed decorations.
The artist chose red wool broadcloth and a silk ribbon edge binding to make this bag. The front flat boasts a beaded central sun design with an equal-armed cross motif. It has a tiny shell button and loop closure. The reverse side features a beaded heart and flowers and several spiral motifs.
Our Antique Beaded Bag retains the original red silk ribbon strap/handle. It measures 6" across the center. Each side measures 3" and the top and bottom sides are 4" wide.
