Plains Style Leather Leggins
Plains Style Leather Leggins
Feast your eyes on the Beadwork on these Plains Style Leather Leggins. We believe these Leggins copy an older pair of Plains Style Leggins. The crafter used Top Grain Deerskin Leather to make them. You will see a variety of beadwork including beaded panels with Tipi designs, a double row of beadwork along the edges of the legs, and circles with feather designs. The crafter used Seed Beads in White, White Center Red, Royal Blue, Cobalt Blue, Maise Yellow, Clear Dark Red and Rose Pink to create the designs. The Leggins measure 25" long not including the belt tabs at the top. The ankle measures 14" in circumference, and the thigh measures 20" in circumference. The side flaps measure 3" wide and the top to 5" wide at the bottom. The crafter added 8" of very fine Deerskin Leather Lacing fringe to the sides. The beaded panels measure 19" long x 2.5" wide.
A previous owner wore these Leggins. You will see soiled areas and places where previous beadwork was removed. You will also see writing inside the flap on the left Leggin (Anne Stavrol c6). They remain in wearable condition, or add them to your regalia or beadwork collection!
