1830s Style Braintanned Reproduction Quilled Leggins
These Leggins Quilled Reproduction come with so many fabulous details! The crafter made them from Braintanned Deerskin. Each leggin uses nearly an entire deer hide. He kept the legs attached all the way down to the bases of the dew claws. Use one set of legs as ties to attach them to your belt. The crafter painted the middle section of each leggin green with red stripes at the top and bottom. He cut short fringe on the outer edges of the Deerskin.
To each leggin, the crafter attached a quilled and beaded strip. He wrapped the quills around six strips and around the inside of each Rosette. To create the quilled designs, the crafter used brilliant yellow, Wine, Pink, Aqua Blue, Red and White quills. He complemented these with reproduction Seed Beads in Cheyenne Pink, White Center Red, White and a really interesting dark Blue. He added 24 black Horsehair drops wrapped with White porcupine quills to one side of each leggin. White Seed Bead edge beading appears around the sides of the strips.
All of the construction and beadwork was done with real sinew. You will see a few holes that the crafter patched before construction. These leggins measure 30.5 inches long from ankle to the top of the upper flaps. The ankle measures 7 inches across (lying flat). The thigh section measures 10 inches across (lying flat). They are a Men’s Large – X Large. You will find them in very good condition.
