Pottery- Signed Mabel Brown

This Acoma Pottery- Signed Mabel Brown vase features a double Thunderbird design.  Potter Mabel Brown hand‑coiled this vessel then applied a white slip base.  She hand‑painted two striking Thunderbirds as one design in red and black. She finished the piece with a red‑slipped fluted rim.  On the side she added two handles, giving the vase extra presence and collectible appeal.  The vase measures 5.25 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. The base is signed “Acoma N.M. – M Brown,” confirming its authenticity and origin.   This piece displays beautifully on its own, and it also works perfectly as a dry‑floral showcase for those who want to style it with seasonal stems or desert botanicals.

One of a Kind!

 Native American Pottery

Traditional Acoma pottery comes from the Pueblo in New Mexico. The pottery usually features very thin walls, a desirable characteristic. Most artists create their pottery using hand coiled techniques. They often use Black, White and Red slip colors.
