R Platero Crow Mother Signed Wood Katsina Dancer
This wood Katsina Dancer holds two pairs of feathers. The artist carved this figure from wood and added minimal etched and burned details. The figure has a headdress with three feathers standing up in the back and two others arching out horizontally. It wears a kilt and a collar and stands on a wood base. The artist signed the base “CROW MOTHER R PLATERO”.
Katsinas (or Kachinas) are supernatural beings in the Pueblo Indian traditions. The Pueblo tribes create Katsina dolls to give to children. Children use them to learn about the various Katsinas and not to play with. This Katsina stands about 7″ high on its base. This figure came from a collection. It is in very good condition and ready to add to your collection. One of a Kind!
