Kachina Hand Painted Slate
Do not miss out on this Kachina Hand Painted Slate. The artist painted the Sun Face Katsina design on a piece of natural stone. It would make a great gift or addition to your collection.
Katsinas (or Kachinas) are supernatural beings in the Pueblo Indian traditions. The Pueblo tribes create Katsina dolls to give to children. Children use them to learn about the various Katsinas and not to play with. A Sun Face Kachina is considered to be one of the more powerful Kachinas because the Sun is thought to be the brightest and largest of all the stars.
This Kachina Hand Painted Slate measures approx. 14″ tall x 10″ wide. There appears to be a chip out of the bottom on the foot where the slate has chipped away, but this is still a very nice piece. The artist added a piece of Deerskin lacing so it can be hung. One of Kind.
