This hand carved and painted Seal Northwest Coast grease bowl is used for serving edible oils and oily foods such as fish during feasts (or potlatches). The crafter painted the inside of the bowl red and the seal’s tail and flippers are painted black. The wood is stained brown and is darker on the top of the seal’s head.
It measures 7.5″ long, 2.5″ wide and 3″ tall.
