Birchbark Fragments Moosehair Embroidered
You will find these pieces of Birchbark Fragments Moosehair Embroidered an intriguing item for your Native American craftwork collection. The crafter made them with birchbark. They embroidered images of people and plants with colored Moosehair. The scenes appeared on the sides of what once was a birchbark container. Each of the people depicted holds something in their left hand and a pipe in their right hand. They are all wearing hats or scarves and stand among trees. The colors have faded but you can still see the greens, browns, blues, white and orange colors.
The crafter originally stitched these pieces together to make a small container but the side stitching has come apart. The top is damaged and the bottom is missing. Parts of the Moosehair have fallen off or deteriorated as well. You can still see the holes where the hair was pushed through the bark. The pieces measure about 3.5 inches wide. The top is about 2 inches long and the lower section about 3 inches long. There are loose pieces of birchbark that someone used to help keep the pieces in shape.
Though the pieces have separated, they still show the exemplary craftsmanship that was required to create this artwork. One of a Kind!
