Floral Beaded Infant Sling

Add this beautiful Strip – Infant Sling Beaded to your collection or give it as a thoughtful gift.  The crafter made it with Gold Deerskin Leather.   The classic beaded floral design includes translucent red, green, light blue, navy, and yellow 10/0 seed beads set against a pearl‑white  background. The crafter added a  metal grommet to one end while turquoise and red yarn tassels finish the other. The colors work together to create a sparkling, eye‑catching finish.   The beaded strip measures approximately 39 inches by 2.5 inches, and extends to about 61 inches with the tassels.

One of a Kind.

Beaded infant‑sling strips originate in the carrying traditions of many Plains and Plateau Nations. Mothers secured cradleboards or soft slings with decorated leather or cloth bands. These strips often show geometric or floral beadwork made with seed beads, pony beads, or quillwork. The beadwork communicates protection, pride, and the maker’s skill. As artists shifted from quillwork to glass beads in the 19th century, the strips gained new colors and complexity. Despite these changes, the pieces kept their cultural purpose. Today, beaded infant‑sling strips hold value as functional adornments and enduring expressions of Indigenous artistry.
