Dolls- Kwakiutl Dancers
These Dolls—Kwakiutl dancers, one girl and one boy—wear traditional regalia that highlights their distinct roles. The girl wears a cotton dress, a cedar headpiece, and a button blanket that drapes across her armless form. The boy stands in a Chilcotin‑style outfit with deerskin leather pants and moccasins. The boy wears a beaded headdress shaped as a horse, and on the back of his blanket there is a beaded eagle. The eyes and mouth are stitched on. Together, they form a striking pair that showcases Northwest coast Attire. The boy measures 12″ tall , and the girl measures 8″ tall. A tag on the boy reads Chilkat Haines Alaska, and the girl’s tag reads Kwakiutl Dancer by Diane Bell 2007.
