Antique Loom Beaded Sash

This Sash- Antique Loom Beaded  features a bold floral design.  The crafter made it with 11/0 Seed Beads in black, white center red, light blue, rose pink, and light green  on a white background. The beaded section measures 31 inches long.  A 24‑inch partially braided wool‑yarn fringe in red and blue extends from the ends. Together, the sash reaches approx. 55 inches in total length.  This is a striking statement piece that highlights exceptional beadwork and traditional craftsmanship.  Due to its age, you will see some bead loss.

One of a Kind.

A beaded loom sash became a defining textile form in the 18th and 19th centuries. Indigenous artists across the Eastern Woodlands and Great Lakes regions adopted bead‑loom technology through the fur trade. Makers quickly used the tool for cultural expression and created long, patterned sashes with glass beads. These sashes often carried floral, geometric, or abstract designs. They served practical and ceremonial roles as belts, regalia, or valued gifts. The loom‑beaded sash soon reflected regional artistry and the enduring creativity of Native makers.
