Wampum Beads

Wampum Beads are small, cylindrical beads traditionally handcrafted from the white and purple shells of the quahog clam. The quahog clam is native to the northeastern shores of North America. These beautiful beads hold deep cultural, historical, and spiritual significance for many Native American tribes. Historically, these beads were woven into wampum belts, which served as sacred tools for recording treaties, memorializing agreements, and conveying messages between tribes.

Today, both the natural shell beadsglass replica beads and clay replica beads are used in Native American beadwork. You will find them in traditional jewelry such as necklaces, earrings bracelets, and  regalia. These intricate beadwork pieces reflect centuries of Indigenous artistry and storytelling.
