A crafter created this Antique Beaded Montreal Pin Cushion Whimsy in a spade shape. The artist used clear, transparent yellow, green and blue seed beads with brown basket beads to make the raised pictorial design. This piece has woven metal ribbon and brass sequins incorporated into the design and has the word Montreal beaded on the front. They used basket and seed beads to make the tassels and seed beads on the beaded hanging loop. The whimsy has very little bead loss and is in great condition. The beautiful blue polished cotton back has minimal fading. A previous owner used this cushion, and it still has a pin in it.This whimsy is a classic example of Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade. This Pin Cushion will make an unusual addition to your antique or whimsy collection!
It measures about 8″ long x 7″ wide. The thickness is about 3.5″.
