Rattle Horn Carved Handle
This Handmade Horn Rattle features real a Horn top and nicely turned handmade wood handle. The artisan added his initials JT in marker to the underside of the Rattle. A piece of Imitation Sinew wrapped around the handle end serves as a hanging loop. This Rattle measures 10.5" long overall. The Horn part is 1.5" long. This Rattle came from a collection. It is in excellent, usable condition. One of a Kind!Traditionally, Native Americans use Horn Rattles to produce the rhythm for song and dance. The Horn Rattle can also sometimes accompany the Water Drum. You can strike a Horn Rattle against the palm of the hand, or shake it. Native Americans did not use cow horn to make Rattles until after European contact. Prior to the introduction of cows, Natives of the Northeast had to use Bark, Gourd and Turtle Shell to make Rattles.
