15" Hand Carved Gourd Rattle With Horse Hair
SOLD This Gourd Rattle with Beadwork Design features beautiful Peyote Stitch at the top and bottom of the rattle. The crafter hand carved a wood dowel for the handle and then stained it. The three beaded geometric designs are made with 14/0 Seed Beads in Royal Blue, Light Green, Wine, Light Blue, Orange, Red and Black. 4″ of White Horsehair extends from the top section of beaded decoration along with colorfully dyed shorter hair. The bottom of the rattle has 8" long twisted fringe.The Gourd Rattle with Beadwork Design measures 15″ long and the little gourd measures 2″ in diameter and about 2″ long. The Peyote Stitch Beadwork sections measure .75″ long at the top, 1.25" below the gourd and 4" and the bottom of the handle.. One of a Kind!
The dance for which this Rattle was made is called the Gourd Dance. The gourd dance is a Kiowa dance ceremony. The dance honors all warriors and veterans. Learn about the Gourd Dance!
