Quilled Slat Orange & Blue
Porcupine Quillwork on a Wood SlatThis Quilled Wood Slat is ready to add to your project! The crafter used Natural, Orange and Blue Porcupine Quills to create the striped and checked design. He or she skillfully wrapped them around a wood slat that is 3/8" wide. The slat has narrowed ends on both sides.
Porcupine quillwork is an art form that Native Americans use to decorate accessories like moccasins and bags and birchbark containers. They also wrap them around feather quills, rawhide strips and pipe stems. This quilled slat measures about 11.25" long x 3/8" wide. It came from a collection. You will see a couple of small breaks on one edge, otherwise the quillwork is in good condition. One of a Kind!
