This Antique Puzzle Pouch features great old color beads including Pumpkin, Cheyenne Pink, Crow Pale Blue and faceted Gold. The artist used Braintanned Deerskin Leather and included a 'fob' end decorated with faceted metallic beads. The artist added edge beading in Clear Red and faceted Gold to the flaps.Puzzle Pouches date back to the late 18th century. Their design keeps items from falling out of them. Native American crafters developed a multi-strip closure to keep the bags shut. This design also makes it challenging to open if you do not know the secret. These pouches often feature beadwork designs and sometimes ribbon trims.
This Puzzle Pouch measures 3.25" x 2.75". The fob measures just about 1" long. The overall length is 8.25".
Though previously owned, it remains in very good condition. The only bead loss appears to be from the fob.
