Dress Northern Plains Style
Dress 1840s Northern Plains Style
This Braintanned Deerskin Leather Dress is in the 1840s Northern Plains Style. We believe it is 15 to 20 years old. This dress is made from four white braintanned leather hides which have been sewn together with real sinew. The leather shows obvious signs of some use, and has been patched near the front neckline (see photos). There are some small stains on the lower back, front, left sleeve, and fringing (see photos). Overall the dress remains in wearable condition. This dress will fit comfortably on chest sizes up to 42"/waist sizes up to 44". It measures 46" from top of the shoulder to base of skirt and 12" sleeve openings. It has a round keyhole neckline that ties in the back with leather closures. Additionally, there is fringe at the base and has 10 to 13" long tassels hanging from the waistline and chest.
