Container Birchbark with Etched Turtles

This Etched Birchbark Container features Turtles on the cover and one side.  The artist etched the designs on the back of the Birchbark while it was still green.  As it dried, the image darkened.  The artist etched Turtle images on the cover and one side of the container.  On the other side, he etched Flower images. The artist used spruce root to hold the container together.  He made the cover with  two pieces of Birchbark .  The cover is very sturdy and you can take it completely off the container.  You will see holes on either end that probably held a piece of Leather Lacing that served as a handle.  You can add your own piece of Deerskin Leather Lacing for a handle if you wish.
This Container stands 5.5″ tall.  The bottom measures  5″ x 4″.  The cover measures 5.5″ x 4.25″.  We got this container from a collection. You will see a scratched area on one end. Structurally it is in very good condition.  It will make a lovely display piece!  One of a Kind!
