Antique Whimsy Watch Pocket
A crafter created this Beaded Antique Whimsy Watch Pocket with Clear Seed beads and Gray basket beads in a flower design on a red cotton fabric. The red cotton fabric has deteriorated and the Polished cotton that covers the back has minimal stains and small fraying. This watch pocket has a tassel design all the way around it, although the tassels have pulled away from the edges in a few spots and a few beads are missing. The piece has very little bead loss on the pictorial design. The edges are showing wear.
It is a classic example of a Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenir. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade. This whimsy comes in the shape of a wall pocket that holds your pocket watch. This Beaded Whimsy will make an unusual addition to your antique or whimsy collection!
