Crafting a Gustoweh starts with the right foundation. Our 1″ Flat Reed, bundled in generous 120″ length sometime supplied in two pieces, gives you the strength, flexibility, and reliability you need to shape a quality frame.
The Gustoweh frame is constructed from wood splints that are bent around the head to form the browband and top cross‑pieces.

An Eastern Woodlands Gustoweh (“Real Hat”) is a traditional Native American headdress. Made with Natural Turkey feathers and an ash or reed frame lined with fabric.
