Braintanned Deerskin Beaded Pipe Bag with Quillwork
Add this one of a kind Pipe Bag Braintanned with Quillwork to your collection. The crafter made it with Braintanned Deerskin Leather. He used walnut hulls to dye it dark brown. The crafter created geometric designs on both sides of the bag using lazy stitch with White, Royal Blue, White Center Red, Yellow and Green Seed Beads. Additional beadwork appears along one side of the bag and lazy stitch edge beading lines the top opening of the bag.
Below the beadwork, the crafter added a section of porcupine quill wrapped rawhide strips. They are arranged in square designs in Red, White and Peach/Pink porcupine quills. Six inches of Deerskin Leather fringe hangs from the bottom of this panel. We got this pipe bag from a collection. You will see insect damage to the quillwork (see photos). Otherwise, you will find this bag in very good condition with no bead loss.
The main part of this Pipe Bag Braintanned with Quillwork measures 16 inches x 6 inches. The beaded sections measure 9.25 inches x 6 inches. The quillwork panel measures 2.25 inches x 6 inches. The overall length of the bag is 24.5 inches. One of a Kind!
