SOLD A crafter beaded this antique scalloped edge Whimsy Beaded Pillow Purple using clear, blue, green, yellow and pink colored 5/0 Pony Beads. You will also see some gray Basket Beads. The crafter added Beaded Looped Tassels with Clear Pony Beads on each corner of the pillow. This piece was made circa 1900.It is a classic example of the Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
This pillow features pictorial raised beadwork of a bird on a branch with leaves and flowers. The crafter beaded the design on a purple velveteen fabric which is still in good condition. The pillow has silk around the edges and back with is in good condition with no tears but has some staining.
It measures about 10″ x 8″ not including the side tassels. The thickness is about 3″. One of a kind!
