Soapstone Face Carving
This Soapstone Face Carving will be in intriguing addition to your collection. We acquired this carving from a private collector so we do not know much about it. The artist used a variegated stone that has a marble-like appearance. He signed the bottom “George Henry”.
The front features an angular face with incised lines on the cheeks and forehead. The back remains smooth. The carving is triangular, with the face forming two of the sides.
This Carving stands just over 4″ tall. The base sides measure 2″ long.
It belonged to a previous owner, but remains in good condition. You will see chips off the end of the chin and above the forehead. You will also see other small scratches and abrasions.
