Basket- Nootka Style XL

This Antique Basket- Nootka Style XL with a cover will make an ideal addition to your collection! The basket maker used Beargrass to make the basket. They added colorful designs in Green, Orange, Purple, Yellow, Red and Brown. The weaver did flower and bird designs on the cover and the sides of the basket. The cover does not fit snugly on the basket.

Nootka baskets are highly valued for their craftsmanship and intricate designs. Basket makers use cedar bark, spruce root, or bear grass to make them. The crafters gather the raw materials, strip the bark or roots into thin strips, and then weave them together. They use natural dyes derived from plants, such as alder bark, yellow cedar, or blackberry root to create colorful designs.

This Basket stands 4.5″ tall with the lid on and 12.5″ long. Some of the colors have faded on the outside, but you can see the original bright colors inside. Structurally, this Basket is in very good condition.
